<div class="gmail_quote"><br><div>Dear Colleagues,</div><div>I would like to invite you to register and participate in the upcoming 2012 Mardi Gras Conference on Computational Materials and Biosystems which will take place on LSU Campus -- Energy, Coast & Environment Building Dalton Woods Auditorium, between February 16 and February 18, 2012.</div>
<div>This year Conference is the 18th edition and is organized under the auspices of the LSU Center for Computation & Technology, LONI, and LA-SiGMA. It is part of a successful series of conferences that started decades ago. As in the previous years the conference will bring together experts from computational sciences, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, etc. and will discuss the current developments in various areas of computational materials and bio-systems. The list of confirmed keynote speakers includes:</div>
<div><br></div><div>· Tunna Baruah, University of Texas, Dept. of Physics</div><div>· Thomas Beck, University of Cincinnati, Dept. of Chemistry</div><div>· Michal Brylinski, Louisiana State University, Dept. of Biological Sciences</div>
<div>· Alexander Burin, Tulane University, Dept. of Chemistry</div><div>· Stefano Curtarolo, Duke University, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science</div><div>· Manolis Doxastakis, University of Houston, Dept. of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering</div>
<div>· Gennady Gutsev, Florida A&M University, Dept. of Physics</div><div>· Mahesh Hosur, Tuskegee University, Materials Science and Engineering</div><div>· Jerzy Leszczynski, Jackson State University, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry</div>
<div>· David Mobley, University of New Orleans, Dept. of Chemistry</div><div>· Juana Moreno, Louisiana State University, Dept. of Physics & Astronomy</div><div>· Mark Novotny, Mississippi State University, Dept. of Physics and Astronomy</div>
<div>· Susan Rempe, Sandia National Laboratories, Nanobiology Dept.</div><div>· Jianmin Tao, Tulane University, Dept. of Physics</div><div>· John Weeks, University of Maryland, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry</div>
<div>· Collin Wick, Louisiana Tech, Dept. of Chemistry</div><div><br></div><div>In addition to oral presentations the conference presents a great opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to showcase their research during the poster session. <b>The graduate students and postdocs registration is free of charge. </b>Of course, LA-SiGMA (or LONI Institute) can be used to pay for faculty registration.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Participation to the conference will provide LA-SiGMA members with the opportunity to meet and exchange opinions and ideas about their ongoing collaborative research. Moreover, to ensure the success of the conference registration and participation of the LA-SiGMA members is critical. The registration process can be completed on-line on the conference website ( <a href="http://www.cct.lsu.edu/mardigras2012" target="_blank">http://www.cct.lsu.edu/mardigras2012</a> ).</div>
<div>The LSU LA-SiGMA members can register on-line by choosing faculty option</div><div><br></div><div>For questions call: Karen Jones, <a href="tel:%28225-578-0595" value="+12255780595" target="_blank">(225-578-0595</a>) or Dorel Moldovan <a href="tel:%28225-578-6488" value="+12255786488" target="_blank">(225-578-6488</a>) who is the lead organizer.</div>
