Dear LONI Institute and LA-SiGMA Colleagues,

LONI Institute and LA-SiGMA faculty in collaboration with Profs. Vidhyadhiraja

Sudhindra from JNCASR, Bangalore and Tanusri Saha-Dasgupta from SNBose
Centre and their colleagues are putting together a request for funding from the
Indo-US Science and Technology forum (IUSSTF) to form an international virtual
graduate research and education center focused on computational materials

science. The IUSSTF provides two year grants to seed such centers. Center
funds will be used to support long and short term visits of US faculty to

India and vice versa, as well as student exchanges. Participants in the

project will share students, courses and group meetings via synchronous and

asynchronous video, and codes via a SVN repository. If successful, near the

end of the seed grant, longer term support for the Centre will be requested
from the NSF/Gov't of India Department of Science & Technology (DST) Joint
Program.

The IUSSTF call specifies that the Centre should be formed from the faculty
at at least two Indian and at least two US universities. So, we are trying

to identify established Indo-US collaborations at some LA-SiGMA and LI

campuses to form the foundation of this proposal for an international
center.

Please let us know if you have an established collaboration with a Indian
colleague. Please include information about recent papers, shared students,
workshops, etc. Also, if possible, tell us about the frequency of
anticipated visits between your group and your Indian colleagues group.

Thank you and best regards,
