words, at UNO we have budgeted an undergraduate to each of the PIs, but I believe we are currently supporting UNO undergrads with those funds. We could encourage our faculty to support Xavier (or other HBCU) students instead. Then publications and presentations

recruit students and offer them scholarships or I may be able to move current students (if they want to switch) to LASiGMA projects. But, we can’t pay these students hourly, which is the current structure. To have the high quality of students in LASiGMA that
I have in PREM (see link above), we need to offer them scholarships otherwise they won’t come to Xavier.
